Dear Parish Family March 19, 2020
Here is some uplifting news as we journey through this difficult time of sickness ...
today is the Feast Day of Saint Joseph!
Yes, today is a Solemnity, which means we render our highest prayers of praise to Almighty God as we celebrate a very special person in the family of God.
St. Joseph is one of only very few Saints who is honored in two Feast Days, namely, March 19th where we honor him as Husband of Mary,
and, May 1st where we honor him as The Worker.
Who was Saint Joseph? Scripture attaches to him one of the noblest attributions ever to be gained by one of us mortals ... “he was a just man,” says the Gospel!
Yes, this justice fitted him, in the eyes of heaven, to be the guardian on earth of:
God’s only Begotten Son, Jesus, and His Virgin Mother, Mary.
Joseph was and remains very special to God ... and so he remains very special to us
... not only as a wonderful model ... but as a powerful intercessor.
Yes, Saint Joseph is the head of the Holy Family and retains great nearness to Jesus and Mary in Heaven. We would do well to call upon him regularly
to seek his intercession for our many needs.
Let’s do that today for sure ... asking for his assistance in overcoming the setback of this contagious disease that has covered the world.
Please stay isolated as much as you can ... stay well ... and pray!
O Holy Saint Joseph, pray for us!
Love and Prayers,
Father Deering
