Letter to the Parish -- March 18, 2020

Dear Parish Family                                                                     March 18, 2020

Perhaps you’ve already seen Bishop Baker’s letter that he addressed to everyone

in the Diocese of Birmingham whereby he decreed that the public celebration of the Mass will be suspended until Saturday April 4th ... the day before Palm Sunday.

We will certainly comply with Bishop’s directive, as the wisdom is to limit the spread of the very contagious Coronavirus.

I will celebrate a Private Mass in our Church at 5 PM on the next 2 Saturdays, March 21st and March 28th, that will be “live-streamed” to those who can watch it on their phones or on their home computers.

Each Mass will also be recorded on “the Cloud” so that Sunday Mass attendees can log into You-Tube to view the virtual Mass at their convenience.

Please realize that “attending” Mass in this way during this time of widespread sickness brings your prayers and praise to God in the very best way possible ... in union with His Divine Son Jesus, and will bring great graces to you and the world.

During the time of Holy Communion, please express your desire for a Spiritual Communion with Jesus and trust that He will refresh your soul with His blessing.

I will let you know if we need to extend this temporary suspension of public Mass beyond April 4th. Know that I am praying Holy Mass in private every day begging God for His blessing upon you and for the healing of all those around the world.

The Sacrament of Confession will be offered Saturday afternoon 4 to 4:45 PM.

It will take place in the Garden outside the Church or in a car “drive-thru” mode.

The people in China, where this virus started, never asked God for help because as Communists, they don’t believe in God. Well, we do! So, let’s beseech Him with our prayers to end the spread of this sickness and bring good health to all.

Love and Prayers,

Father Deering
