Infant Baptism
Parent/Sponsor preparation required.
Preparation program offered periodically on Sundays. Infants are
usually baptized into the Catholic community at parish liturgies.
Family baptisms can be arranged. Contact the Parish Office at 205.553.9733 extension 2

Adult Baptism
Those adults who are interested in becoming
a Catholic participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA). For

Reconciliation (Penance)
- Saturday 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. or by
appointment
- Communal Reconciliation services
offered during Advent and Lent.
- Children are prepared for the
sacrament in second grade. Parents are required to attend the
sacramental preparation program. For additional information

First Eucharist
At Holy Spirit parish, children receive
the sacrament of Eucharist during the Easter Season of the second
grade year in school. Parents are required to attend a sacramental
preparation meeting so that they may work with their children in
preparing them for the sacrament. Contact the Director of Religious

for dates of these meetings.
Confirmation
Preparation for Confirmation begins
in the fall of the candidates' freshman year (9th grade). Candidates
receive the sacrament in the spring of their sophomore year (10th

Marriage Preparation
In accordance with diocesan regulations,
all couples planning to be married at Holy Spirit must notify the
pastor at least four months prior to their wedding date and must
attend a marriage preparation program. Catholic
Engaged Encounter weekends is offered. Call the Parish Office (205.553.9733 ext 2) for further
information and registration form.
Anointing of the
Sick/Communion to the Sick
If any of your loved ones are seriously
ill or are anticipating major surgery, contact Karis Perry at
205.553.9733 ext.6 or at kperry@hschurch.com,
if you would like to have the anointing of the sick and the reception
of communion brought to your home or to the hospital. Communal anointing
will be held seasonally.
Holy Orders
Holy Orders is the sacrament in which
men commit their lifelong service as ordained priests or deacons.
Anyone interested in the priesthood, diaconate, or religious life
should make an appointment with the Pastor aid in the discernment
and to receive information.
